Opening Night

The Copper is now open… our new Cultural Arts and Educational Center in North Miami.

After years in the making, we were honored to share this historic Opening Night amongst so many supporters of our mission and newcomers from our community.

The City of North Miami announced that December 4 has been officially declared as Copperbridge Foundation Cultural Educational Center Day!

Copperbridge received a Proclamation of Honor from the City of North Miami and Florida Senator Shevrin Jones, as well a Certificate of Appreciation from American Institute of Architects Miami, and generous support from North Miami CRA.

Located in North Miami, "The Copper" is a hub for a diverse range of educational workshops spanning dance, music, film, fine arts, architecture, literature, and storytelling.

Inspired by the history of the building and the community, The Copper is a versatile space powered by the creativity of local artists and evolving with each new idea and collaboration.

The outdoor area has performed as a stage, a cinema, and canvas for animated art.
Inside, there is a communal nucleus spanning the length of the building that has become an ever-growing table of architects and artists making plans, blueprints, and sketches for what is next to come.
Equipped with several rooms, a communal kitchen, two bathrooms, and a network of creatives, The Copper offers gallery space, shared and private offices.

Next door at the Caridad building, part of The Copper Complex, we also have an Artists in Residency program. .. and don’t forget about Casa Fe down the street!

Please contact us if you are interested in more info.
We look forward to showing you around The Copper!

  • Since 1988, NAEMI has worked with artists operating outside traditional circuits—many of whom come from mental health backgrounds, where art emerges as a way to express that which cannot always be put into words.

Over the years, they have developed exhibitions, publications, and programs that have brought these works to museums and galleries across the United States, Europe, and Latin America, building a collection of nearly 1,300 pieces.

As part of No Seasoning, this collaboration with NAEMI grows from a broader intention to open up the conversation around outsider art—not as a category, but as a living practice.

Copperbridge Foundation continuous our ongoing programming on April 10th with an evening of film and conversation with the organization’s founders.

  • This April 10th, join us at Copperbridge Foundation for a special evening of film and conversation.
In collaboration with NAEMI, a foundation dedicated to working with outsider artists, we present a screening that brings visibility to creative practices developed outside traditional frameworks.
The evening will be presented by Juan Martin, Founder of NAEMI, and Silvia Quintana, CEO of Broward Behavioral Health Coalition, who will guide the night and share experiences from their work supporting artists and communities at the intersection of art and mental health.
🎬 What’s Under Your Hat?
Written and directed by Lola Barrera & Iñaki Peñafiel.

Duration: 75 minutes.

A documentary on the life and creative process of Judith Scott—an outsider artist who, after decades living in institutions, developed a unique and deeply personal sculptural language. Through her story, the film reveals how art can become a form of communication, identity, and freedom.
More than a film, this is an invitation to connect, reflect, and experience the stories behind the work.

🎟 RSVP recommended.

The Community Art Workshop held at The Copper on Saturday, led by Lola Heasley, created a space where creation was a form of listening—connecting us to nature, memory, and one another.
It was a quiet, suspended afternoon—filled with small gestures, shared stories, and moments that reached something deeper.
There were tears. There was silence. And a kind of beauty that’s almost impossible to name.
Lola’s work doesn’t just stay on the canvas—it becomes something you feel. In that shared space, something truly shifted.

Since 1988, NAEMI has worked with artists operating outside traditional circuits—many of whom come from mental health backgrounds, where art emerges as a way to express that which cannot always be put into words.

This April 10th, join us at Copperbridge Foundation for a special evening of film and conversation.
