Bringing forth the Cuban nature of creation through the seven Afro-Cuban descendant artists, we have embraced resilience, perseverance, and no boundaries. Our rich programming in No Seasoning delved deep into the artistic dimensions of outsider art—from personal expression to civic and mental health awareness, both in Cuba and globally—bringing these powerful narratives into our personal community. Copperbridge, alongside Naemi, is honored to close this chapter with you, in a night of ceremonial drumming, as we step together into a new horizon. Purvis Young’s impact in Liberty City is powerfully captured in the 2007 documentary Purvis of Overtown , which illustrates how the act of documenting a community’s evolution can bring both recognition and pride to that place. By focusing on Young’s extraordinary talent, the film not only sheds light on his vibrant artwork but also acts as a time capsule, transporting viewers to Liberty City in the 1970s and 80s. It chronicles the neighborhood’s rich cultural history, its resilience, and the bittersweet decline that came with urban progress and economic shifts.Thank you Joe Chirichigno from Purvis Young Foundation for your wonderful insight .

Join us at Copperbridge Foundation for a special screening of Purvis of Overtown—an intimate look into the life and legacy of Outsider Artist ,Purvis Young and his deep connection to Overtown and South Florida’s cultural landscape. Copperbridge Foundation is pleased to have had Olivia Almagro present her new book, ‘Christmas in April.’ The book reading and discussions focused on a family that comes to America via the Marielito boatlift, a topic that carries a special history in Miami culture. If you weren’t able to attend, we will announce a series of Olivia Almagro book lectures, and we will keep you informed. The Community Art Workshop held at The Copper on Saturday, led by Lola Heasley, created a space where creation was a form of listening—connecting us to nature, memory, and one another. It was a quiet, suspended afternoon—filled with small gestures, shared stories, and moments that reached something deeper. There were tears. There was silence. And a kind of beauty that’s almost impossible to name. Lola’s work doesn’t just stay on the canvas—it becomes something you feel. In that shared space, something truly shifted. North Miami Centennial Trolley Tour lead by Council man Kevin Burns , which visited highlights like the Copperbridge Foundation headquarters, the Czech Club, the W.J. Bryant Elementary School building, and MOCA, was truly amazing. We had over 55 participants, all immersed in North Miami’s rich history, architecture, and culture.
