Robin Grow is the long-term President of the Art Deco & Modernism Society of Australia (ADMSA) and is the current Vice-President of ICADS. He has written extensively on the Art Deco and post-war eras and has contributed many articles to Australian and international forums. He is the author of the award-winning Melbourne Art Deco (2009) and has just completed Melmo: Modernist Architecture in Melbourne. He has also presented on the interwar era at World Congresses in Buenos Aires, New York, Rio de Janeiro, Havana and Cleveland, and successfully managed the World Congress on Art Deco in his native Melbourne in 2007.
He is passionate about preservation of buildings from the era and has led ADMSA in seeking landmark status and in many struggles to prevent demolition or inappropriate redevelopment. A favourite topic of his is architecture in totalitarian states and he is particularly enamoured with the work of Salamone in Argentina.
