NH City Hotel

Our hotel was originally designed by the engineer Julio A. Noble and the architect Miguel Madero for David Hogg, being the property of a Scotsman installed in Buenos Aires. It was inaugurated in 1931 being one of the largest buildings in the city at that time, and one of the most important hotels near the Plaza de Mayo. His style combines art deco and neo-Gothic influences. In its construction, 2 subsoils, ground floor and 12 high floors were made. With a total of 460 rooms, divided into departments, as well as rooms for hotel service personnel. It had a large dining room, at that time a challenge for engineers since to extend its greatness it was decided that it lacked columns, and 7 elevators. The Medhurst studio, Thomas & Harris was responsible for the original decoration in 1931, combining various styles. The entrance, the large dining room and the hall on the ground floor were made in the Spanish Renaissance style and the living room was in the style of the first stage of the English Renaissance. In 1993, the NH HOTELES chain arrived in our country with strong growth, taking over the historic City Hotel in January 2000 at 50%, the other remaining percentage acquired by Mr. Florencio Aldrey, Argentine businessman. As of that moment its remodeling and modernization begins, in charge of the Urgell Fazio Penedo Urgell studio. Again it is reopened on December 11, 2001, transforming it into a 5-star hotel, which has 302 rooms and 6 rooms. Later, in 2006, the hotel was transformed into NH City & Tower Hotel, where an annex to the building was built, built on an adjacent house from which the facade was preserved, then transformed into NH Collection Historic Center.
