Jessie Matrullo/Bohemian Royalty creates portraits inspired by classic paintings, Art Deco
sculptures ,
and Art Nouveau prints.
These portraits incorporate her background in costume and styling with vintage clothing, antique
objects of desire, and the subjectsʼ personal influences.
Her Bohemian Royalty Studio is in Yonkers, NY.
The studio houses a large Collection of vintage clothing and one of a kind pieces that have taken
years to curate.
Born in San Francisco and raised in the tropics of Miami with Southern Gothic roots, these
dynamics are a large part of her work.
Her background consists of designing clothing and accessories in the Fashion Industry in New York
to working as a costumer/stylist in film and TV.
Currently, she combines her history of clothing/costume design, styling and art direction, while
focusing on her Creative Visionary Photographic Portraits.
Her work is collaboration of visionary insights and the subject at hand, by means of an interview
and a questionnaire.
Creating a production, where the subject becomes the story and the protagonist all at once.
Her goal is to create cogent, more enigmatic, images of who the subject is fostering somewhere
deep inside by stimulating their persona during the process and leaving them with an image that is
a work of contemporary art.
She is currently working on the continuous projects of the THE GODDESSʼ and REVOLUTIONARY
ODALISQUES.
