Alberto Petrina was born in 1945 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Architect by the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Urbanism of the University of Buenos Aires, he has acted as Professor of History of Architecture and Art I-II-III and Argentine Architecture, member of the Institute of American Art and Research Aesthetics “Mario J. Buschiazzo” and the Board of Directors by the Faculty Senate. After completing his teaching career, in 2016 he was appointed as a Consultant Professor at the UBA. That same year he is hired as Professor of History of Architecture by the Department of Architecture of the National University of Avellaneda. He has been Guest Professor of several universities throughout Latin America and is the author or co-author of many books. In the public service he has served as Director of the Museum of Hispanic Art “Isaac Fernández Blanco”; Curator of American Architecture and Art of the Recoleta Cultural Center; Director of Museums, Monuments and Historic Sites of the Province of Buenos Aires; Director of Cultural Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; General Director of Heritage of the City of Buenos Aires and National Director of Heritage and Museums of the Ministry of Culture of the Presidency of the Nation (2009-2014). Since 2002 he is a member of the National Commission of Museums and Monuments and Historic Places, where he currently serves as Vice President. In September 2014, the then Ministry of Culture of the Nation created the CEPAN (Center for National Architectural Heritage Studies), appointing it to the head of the new organization.
