It is impossible not to fall in love with La Colmenita (The Beehive in English), a Children’s Theater Company that incorporates the talents of all children who wish to participate and their supportive parents who are encouraged to contribute their time and skills to the theatrical productions.
In 2007 La Colmenita was the first theatrical group in the world to be proclaimed Ambassador of Goodwill of the UNICEF.
The children of La Colmenita do not audition to be a part of this community project. Everyone is welcome to participate. Oftentimes, the plays are bilingual which serves as a fun way to teach the kids another language. The parents create all of the costumes and help with set design for all of the kids. This is a shining example of an artistic community project for kids!
