This program explores Cuba’s history with an emphasis on religion from Catholicism to Yoruba to the popular syncretism of the two, Santería. We will explore the arts that have been influenced by religion including visual artists such as Wifredo Lam and contemporary dance artists including Narciso Medina Dance Company. We will visit Callejon de Hamel and Guanabacoa Afro-Cuban Museum and engage in a drum and dance workshop.
