This exhibit, Rostros Gibara, is a collection of portraits taken by Danay Napoles at the Proyecto Casa Gitana in Gibara, Cuba. It includes a variety of personalities, both Cuban and foreigners, united for a special event.
Danay Napoles is a Cuban photographer, who focuses mainly in the field of portraiture. Danay believes art unites people and aims to capture the essence of the individual beyond the photo to demonstrate the life of her subject.
The photographs were taken on site at Copperbridge Foundation’s Proyecto Casa Gitana – a multi-functional on-site venue to bring internationals and locals together between festival events, support local and visiting artists, and provide a space of true social and cultural interaction in creative coexistence, where, the true protagonist, was the town. The project proposed an organic, healthy lifestyle, in an atmosphere of respect, solidarity, tolerance and diversity. From fresh fruits to yoga and meditation classes, this was a home away from home.
