As part of Copper Fest, Nicomedes Díaz Gijón, a renowned Religious Art restorer in Cuba, provided a lecture on the restoration and the creation of religious images at House of Art in the Wynwood Arts District of Miami.

Díaz was commissioned by the Bishop of the Church of Barajagua to recreate the image of La Caridad del Cobre – The same church where the first image of the Virgin was placed when it was found at the Bay of Nipe in 1612.
