It’s been named Cuba’s best kept secret!  The small town of Gibara becomes a hot cultural hub as it hosts the International Film Festival, formerly known as Cine Pobre (Poor Cinema) recognizing the creativity and artistry of low-budget filmmakers.  The festival involves live performances, art exhibits, and panels on film. Local artists, the people of Gibara, film stars, and fishermen alike are eagerly anticipating your arrival to share common interests, have dialogue, dance, and enjoy a cafecito together!

  • Susana Pous and her company MiCompañia (formerly DanzAbierta) performed her latest piece, INFINITO
  • Argos Teatro performed 10 Millones
  • Casey Stoll is released his newest photography book, Lights, Camera, Gibara! sponsored by Copperbridge Foundation.  The book features photo highlights from last years festival.  The photos will be strewn throughout the town in people’s homes and you will find Casey snapping new shots for next year’s book!
  • Danay Napoles exhibit her work following her gorgeous opening of Retratos at the Havana Biennial.
